How to add hanging hardware to your artwork!
I wanted to do a tutorial on how I add hanging hardware to my artwork, as this is something that I used to struggle with. It is actually very easy and only takes a few minutes! I did a verbal walk through in this video, but also wanted to write down and link a lot of the supplies I am using. You can find all of these items in any hardware store or online!
Step 1
- Pencil
- Tape measure: https://amzn.to/3ZBh1mk
Measure about 1/3 of the way down your canvas and use the pencil to mark the areas where you will add the D rings.
Step 2
- Drill: https://amzn.to/3mnlvyO
- D rings and screws: https://amzn.to/3IQyNer
Place the rings where you made your marks and use a drill to screw them into place.
Step 3
- Wire snips: https://amzn.to/3KPJZuG
- Hanging wire: https://amzn.to/3mr8u73
Run the wire through one of the D rings and bend it over to hold the wire in place. Run the wire about 1-2 inches past the second D ring and use the snips to trim the wire. Twist the extra ends of wire around the main piece on your canvas to tie the wire/hold it in place. you can trim any excess wire if there is too much.
Step 4
- Pen or marker
Don't forget to sign your artwork! I like to initial and date mine.
